Ps.
Sorry wrong post ako kanina abt Huawei. Di ko na madelete eh.

3 out of 10 say life improved in past 12 months
Three in 10 Filipinos believed their personal quality of life has improved in the past 12 months, the latest Social Weather Stations’ survey revealed on Friday. In its survey, SWS said 38 percent of Filipinos said the state of their lives improved while fewer Filipinos at 21 percent said the quality of their lives has worsened.SWS said the latest figures revealed a five-point increase in net gainers’ score from “very high” + 12 in December 2018 to +17 in March 2019, which was classified by SWS as “very high

Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said the latest figures was a wake-up call to those who oppose the Duterte administration.

“This is yet another loud repudiation against, and yet another wake-up call to, the critics and detractors of the Duterte administration, which include the left-leaning groups, militant church members and the political opposition, who continuously and deliberately ignore our achievements which redound to the benefit of the Filipino masses,” Panelo said in a statement.

"Binaboy mo ang senado" Good Riddance. Personally, I believe that the Bikoy is the handiwork of an opposition conspiracy. Bong Go is right in opening a Senate investigation soon. When DU30's daughter.Kitty was "implicated" , I am pissed off by the inhuman and immoral ways of these coup plotters. Its Treason wherein some holy men pretend Not to See. These dicks are so shameless, presenting super ugly personalities, from that DDS witness to that PDEA "expose'" agent ( magpa life style check ka at lumantad ka) All of you are under protective custody of dark forces. So regardless of million expose' nobody believes them. The millenials are far smarter than you think. Nobody can peddle them pure BS. No wonder Ms Imee landed in No.8, that people power myth is now purely history. The next generation of Filipinos should focus on Legitimate Economic Growth... This will help alleviate our poverty.Economic growth
dictated by industries, tourism, etc al. And Not by dirty, blood money borne by drugs and other crimes. Move forward PHILIPPINES. Enough of comical bastards. By the way, May I suggest that ICC and UN protect our Country Rights. We are victims of garbage dumping and yet they are so so quiet  Final word: If some sectors are mad at DU30, focus on the issues and Not his innocent daughter. Ginagago lang ninyo sarili ninyo. Be a man Not a Sissy.MY OWN VIEWS.

No outright denial from this one? So, is there some truth in "Bikoy's" recantation after all?

Jesuits lament priest's mention in Advincula's new claims
Published May 24, 2019 11:02pm
By MARGARET CLAIRE LAYUG, GMA News
Philippine Jesuits on Friday lamented that a a priest of good standing has been dragged into the controversy of the "Ang Totoong Narco-list" videos that were allegedly used to discredit President Rodrigo Duterte's administration and his allies.

The priest in question, Father Albert Alejo, is known for organizing an anti-corruption program and was one of the priests who received death threats after President Rodrigo Duterte attacked Catholic Church officials.

"Fr Albert Alejo, whose name was mentioned by Peter Advincula yesterday, is a Jesuit priest of very good standing," said Fr. Nono Alfonso SJ, Communications Officer of the Philippine Jesuits in a statement.

"He has a Doctorate Degree in Anthropology from London and has taught in Ateneo de Davao, Ateneo de Zamboanga and now at the Ateneo de Manila University. He was also director of various social centers in which he championed the causes of women, labor, indigenous peoples and muslim Filipinos," he added.

The statement was issued after Fr. Albert Alejo was mentioned by Peter Joemel Advincula, who claims to be "Bikoy" the hooded person in the series of videos that linked family members of Duterte and his allies to the illegal drug trade.

Advincula, in a press conference on Thursday, recanted his initial revelations. He then tagged Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and the Liberal Party as the people behind the videos.

The allegations have been denied by Trillanes and Vice President Leni Robredo, the Liberal Party chairperson.

Advincula said he met Trillanes through a priest he identified as Fr. Albert Alejo.

Father Alfonso, in his statement, underscored Alejo's good standing in the academic and religious communities and pastoral work.

"Indeed in academic, development and religious circles, Alejo’s name has been synonymous with scholarship, truth, justice, and love for the poor," Alfonso said.

"It is therefore sad that he is now being painted in a bad light. It is also unfortunate that he is being dragged in the ongoing controversy," he added.

Alejo is known for organizing an anti corruption campaign in the1990s called "Ehem" that is recognized by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), which encouraged the implementation of its programs in parishes nationwide.

Alejo is one of three priests who disclosed publicly that they have received death threats in March this year.

The threats were sent amid President Duterte’s attacks against Catholic priests and the Church and their vocal opposition to his bloody drug war, which has killed thousands of mostly poor Filipinos since he took office in 2016.

Alfonso gave his assurance that Alejo would speak "at the proper time and in the proper fora" if needed. — BAP, GMA News

Sen. De Lima blames gruesome death of 5-year-old kid to the culture of violence in the country
Opposition Senator Leila de Lima on Sunday denounced the gruesome killing of a five-year-old child that was found dead inside a large pink bag and blamed anew the Duterte government for promoting a culture of impunity in the Philippines.

The suspect, Glenn Ford Manzanero, 30, reportedly admitted to the crime and told police officers that he was “high on drugs” when he took the girl. Manzanero is now facing a murder charge.

looks Like Justice for Corona is Coming,
Termed-out senators could block efforts to get justice for CJ Corona
I want to applaud the initiative or plan of retired Supreme Court Justice Arturo Brion to appeal to the incoming 18th Congress to correct what he believes was an injustice done to the late Chief Justice Renato Corona by lawmakers during the Aquino administration.

Note first that the four “senators” — Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla, and Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel — are significantly listed in the Supreme Court decision on the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) as having received “inducements” in the millions from former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino 3rd to impeach the late CJ Corona in May 2012.

This is perhaps the only act of bribery that is memorialized in no less than a high court decision. I have written about the bribery and court decision in previous columns “Challenge to PH’s richest woman and Comelec,” Times, April 9, 2019 and “Senators and their loot,” Times, July 30, 2014. I quoted and reprinted both the SC’s listing of the bribed senators by name and loot.It is a good thing that many veterans of the Corona impeachment are leaving the Senate permanently.

Duterte signs Magna Carta of the Poor
https://news.mb.com.ph/2019/05/27/duter ... -the-poor/

By Genalyn Kabiling

The government is mandated to implement programs to ensure the rights of the Filipino poor to food, work, education, housing, and health care will be met under a new law signed by President Duterte.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte
(KIWI BULACLAC/PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO / MANILA BULLETIN)

Republic Act No. 11291 or the “Magna Carta of the Poor” seeks to provide the poor with full access to government services as well as establish a national poverty reduction plan to improve their welfare. The new law was signed by the President last April 12 and released to the public Monday.

“It is the declared policy of the State to uplift the standard of living and quality of the poor and provide them with sustained opportunities for growth and development,” the law read.

“It shall adopt an area-based, sectoral and focused intervention to poverty alleviation where every poor Filipino must be empowered to meet the minimum basic needs through the partnership of the government and the basic sectors,” it added.

Under the law, the government will establish a “system of progressive realization” or implementation to provide opportunities to realize the rights of the poor to “adequate food,” “decent work,” “relevant and quality education,” “adequate housing,” and “highest attainable standard of health.”

The law defines the poor as “individuals or families whose income falls below the poverty threshold as defined by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and/or who cannot afford in a sustained manner to provide their minimum basic needs of food, health, education, housing, and other essential amenities of life.”

In the law, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agriculture (DA) and other concerned agencies will take action to mitigate hunger, implement supplementary feeding programs in day care centers and schools, and ensure stable food supply, among others.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and concerned agencies have been directed to ensure the poor will have access to information about job openings, ensure compliance of public works contractors to fill 30 percent of skilled labor requirements by qualified workers from the poor sector; promote livelihood among the poor, ensure compliance with labor standards, address job and skills mismatch, and enhance human capital through education and training.

The Department of Education (DepEd), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) must also keep a system of free public education in kindergarten, elementary and high school levels; make higher education accessible to all poor persons and families; and ensure access to quality technical-vocation education and training.

The Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) must also prioritize the implementation of socialized housing program, build housings for families living in danger areas of those affected by calamities; create an enabling environment to assist the poor gain access to security of tenure with least financial burden; provided simple requirements and procedures and expeditious processing and approval for socialized housing proposals.

The Department of Health (DOH) must also ensure equitable access to a system of good quality health care and protection acceptable to the poor, provide comprehensive health services and programs, reduce financial burden of health care through socialized health insurance.

The law also directed the government agencies to formulate a “National Poverty Reduction Plan” to set the thresholds to be achieved for each of the rights of the poor. “This plan shall consider development plans of provinces, cities and municipalities. NAPC, with the assistance of NEDA, shall be tasked to compile and harmonize these plans,” it said.

The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) must also ensure basic sectors and local government units are engaged in the formulation and implementation of the poverty alleviation plan.

The law also encouraged the private sector to help finance and implement the poverty alleviation programs.

Any donation, contribution and grant for national anti-poverty plan will be exempt from donor’s tax. The implementers of the socialized housing resettlement program will also enjoy incentives stated in the Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992.

The NAPC has been assigned to oversee and monitor compliance of the law. Concerned agencies will be required to submit a report to the NPAC within six months of the effectivity of the law and very six months thereafter.

The law takes effect 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper.
