RugbyX will observe the debut of rugby’s version of this’Super Over’, with drawn matches decided by a revolutionary one-on-one competition.
In the event of a draw, one attacker from 1 team will attempt to score beyond one defender from another.
The’one-on-one’ has been included as part of the laws of RugbyX, which have been confirmed by World Rugby.
October the latest version of rugby launches at the 02 Arena on 29.
Ireland, england and the Barbarians are one of the groups involved at the introduction championship, which entails both women and the men’s teams.
Dubbed’Rugby’s Twenty20′, RugbyX is a version of the game, is full contact and performed with on a half-sized pitch.
Halves will likely be 10 minutes every day, without a break between.
Kicking is enabled, but kicks must not exceed 10 metres in height, with the distance tracked by chunk monitoring technology.
One of the supported legislation:
“The RugbyX legislation are developed with the aim of encouraging easy, rapid and skilful gameplay with nominal stoppages, whilst retaining the core fundamentals of the sport we love,” explained RugbyX Technical Director Ben Ryan.
Co-host of the Rugby Union Weekly podcast, former England winger Ugo Monye, considers that the’one on one’ is really a more breathtaking and innovative way of deciding a match.
The participant will begin with the ball 30 metres from the line, although the defender begins 5 metres out, using a 10 second time limit.
“As a defender it’s a nightmare, but as an attacker the pressure is on you to score,” he explained. “I’d really like to see someone such as [Springbok wing] Cheslin Kolbe doing it.
“For me, RugbyX is still a simplified and condensed version which cherry-picks the top bits of what is.”
