Chinabank acquires 2/3 of Plantersbank

China Banking Corporation disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange that they have signed a memorandum of agreement to purchase at least 2/3 of the outstanding capital of Planters Development Bank.  The acquisition is subject to approval of the bank’s shareholders and regulatory offices.  Plantersbank is the Philippine’s largest private development bank and leading bank for SMEs.  As of May 2013, Plantersbank has assets of over p52.7billion, total loan portfolio of P33billion and deposits of P43.6billion.  Their nationwide network of branches total 78 branches.
