Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Senator Antonio Trillanes were engaged in an heated argument regarding Senator Trillanes’ role as special negotiator to China on the island dispute issue. What started as a session regarding the bill on dividing Camarines Sur province turned sour when Senator Trillanes accused Senate President Enrile as being unfit, and as a “lackey” of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Senator Trillanes also withdrew himself from the Senate Majority. Afterwhich, Senate President Enrile started to question Senator Trillanes’ supposed role as negotiator with Beijing regarding the Panatag / Scarborough shoal issue.
Senator Trillanes eventually walked out and Senate President Enrile called him a coward.
