Transit of Venus on June 6, 2012 6:13am Philippine Time

The Transit of Venus will occur on June 6, 2012, starting at 6:13am to 12:48am.  The transit is a planetary alignment that occurs when Venus passes between the Earth and the sun.  It is actually one of a pair of rare phenomena which happen eight years apart, with the dual events only taking place approximately every 105 years. The first transit of this lifetime was in 2004; the last transit was in 1882.   The Philippines is one of the places where the full transit will be visible.   Be sure to watch this rare event as the next one will occur on 2117.

  1. Be sure to wear superior eye protection when staring directly at the sun. Be sure to have a strong filter in your camera lens when taking photo directly aimed at the sun. Cheers!
