How much would Steve Jobs be worth today?

In the beginning, in order to raise funds, Steve Jobs as well as his two partners, Steve Wozniak and Mike Markkula sold their prized calculator for US$250 and Volkswagen bus for $1,500.

When the stock went public on Dec. 12, 1980, Jobs owned 7.5 million shares. With an IPO price of $22 per share that makes his $1,500 investment in 1976 worth $217 million in 1980!

At this week’s 500 dollar per share, those 7.5M shares alone would be worth 3.7 Billion dollars!

However, Larry Magid, technology analyst and CBS News consultant, said Jobs was worth more. His holdings in Disney and the animated film maker Pixar are worth about $4.4 billion.

After dividends and splits and what have yous, Jobs owned about of 5.5 million shares of Apple and 138 million shares of Disney stock, which were worth well over 8 Billion dollars!

Unfortunately for Apple Fans, Jobs Passed away last October 5, 2011, and he did not live to see his stock reach $500 this year.
