Summer Spots for kids: Hotel H2O

Hotel H20 is the 0ne and only hotel in the metro (or the Philippines?) that offers aquarium inside your hotel room.   They have three kinds of rooms, the bay room, park room and aqua room.  However, only the aquarooms have a huge wall of aquarium inside.  I highly recommend getting the aquaroom even if it is more expensive and tend to be smaller than the other rooms.  The kids will surely go crazy watching the fishes, especially during feeding time.  My 19  month old daughter, was so happy she couldn’t sleep and just wanted to watch the fishes swim.   There was a huge variety of fishes but sadly, there was no information provided as to what the fish species were.

As I mentioned, the room is quite small.  Just enough for a family of four.  The bed is queen sized but the frame that holds it made it feel larger than it is.  Free WIFI access is provided in the rooms as well. There is also free mini bar, but dont expect much.  All that is provided is two cans of soda, two bottles of water and four pack of chips.   The toilet is quite spacious and toiletries provided even include powdered detergent!!!

There is a swimming pool at the ground floor, this is the same swimming pool that  Manila Ocean Park offers for their guests.  The pools are clean and there are covered kiddie pools.  But I find the surrounding a bit dark since its designed to be under a cave or something.  One good thing about the pool is that it is adjacent to the sea lion show and the water fountain show.  So if you happen to be swimming at those times, you get to watch the shows for free!!! The hotel also has a 24 hour gym and a spa.

Hotel staff is super friendly and they are very accommodating.    Checking in was a breeze but we had a difficult time checking out.  I am not sure if there was a shortage of staff or their check out process is still not ironed out yet.  The housekeeping department took a long time clearing our room for check out.   By the way, parking is free for hotel guests.

I booked through the hotel for the Aqua room package which costs around P7,500 inclusive of breakfasts for 2 at Makan Makan Resto and 2 Oceanarium tickets.  Before booking at the hotel, I found several sites like Agoda, Asiatravel and that offered cheaper rates but did not include breakfast or tickets (depends).  I would recommend checking these sites and get the room only package.  Breakfast is so-so and definitely not worth the P750 price tag.  Also, Manila Ocean Park has several bundled tickets promo so its cheaper to get from them.  We had lunch and dinner at Makan makan and the food then was good.  The staff at the resto were also great and very nice.

The kids totally enjoyed the trip and is already asking me when we are planning to go back!!!
