How to buy an Airconditioning unit

below is a quick guide in choosing an airconditioner. Before buying, take into consideration the size of the room, the type of aircon that you need, your budget and the unit’s energy efficiency. Use the table below for easier decision making:

15 m2 3/4 horsepower Window type 6,000 – 8,000 9 – 9.8
16 – 20 m2 1 horsepower Window type 9,000 – 11,000 9 – 9.8

There are three(3) major things to consider in buying an air conditioning unit:

•  The room size and the cooling capacity of the unit. The table above serves as a guide on the room size and the necessary capacity of the aircondition unit, so before buying one, make sure that you know that size of the area that needs to be cooled. Choose also the size that you know would fit the window or the slot for your air conditioner so you won’t have to make major changes in your wall or in your window. Before visiting an appliance store, please get the following information; room size(LxW in meter) and aircon slot(LxW in feet)

•  Check on the EER or Energy efficiency ratio. This will allow you save more electricity so you want to invest on a more efficient machine. The EER number ranges from 8 – 12. As a rule of thumb, the higher the EER, the more energy efficient.

•  Think also of the design and the features. You may choose a unit that has a remote control for easy adjustment specifically if high wall installation. Also, it would be advisable to have a model that has a timer so it would automatically turn off and switch to fan mode when desired coldness is acquired. A model with a noise reduction feature would be convenient is becoming a big concern particularly among families within cities. Get an aircon unit with purifier to prevent irritants in the air that you family breathe.

New technology types of air conditioning units are also available at a slightly higher price, boasting 60% savings from conventional aircon units.  These so-called inverter aircons boast even 13 to 16 EER, and may cost you somewhere around 35,000 pesos for a split type 1.5 horsepower unit.  Window type inverters are not yet so prevalent.

Instead of the old style compressor type aircon utilizing go stop go thermostat sensors that stops and restarts the motor compressor which uses more electricity every-time the unit starts up, the new inverter technology keeps the load demand steady.

  1. inverter type aircons are really energy efficient. they are not lying when manufacturer claims that inverter types reduce electricity usage. that’s me speaking from experience.

  2. Just be careful to make ventilation considerations when you installed split type aircons.

  3. anyone know where we can buy inverter WINDOW type?

  4. …unfortunately, I have not yet come across an inverter type window mounted…yet…

  5. Outsource your web designing and seo requirements…check out
